Audio bug where I can't hear someone but their bubble shows they're speaking

Our teammate joined the workspace and started speaking. I couldn't hear them even though their bubble was showing that they were speaking with the blue ring fading in and out. I could hear another teammate perfectly and we then jumped into Google Meet where audio worked as expected.

We've recently pushed a change we believe will address the underlying problem here. Please do let us know if you find you can't hear someone else going forward - we're confident we addressed at least one concrete problem related to this, but we want to be sure we've done a thorough job!

Laurent Baumann: This started happening again during standup for the past few days. Everything works fine with up to 4 people, it seems like when the 5 or 6th person joins, they can't hear us but we can hear them.

Thibaut Labarre: Would anyone happen to be using an ARM-based computer, like the new MacBook M1-based laptops? We have seen this problem when using ARM-based Chrome, which we're still digging into.

Grant Forrest: we are not as far as I know. Laptops were all provisioned more than 8 months ago. There was not hardware change in the recent month. The only thing that happened for a few of us was an OS upgrade to MacOS Big Sur.

Hey Thibaut! We are experiencing some of those issues too. We are investigating what is going and putting in place some more error logging in place. Hopefully we can get to the bottom of it quickly.
